It was another dream came true when I visited Florence. Known in Italian as Firenze, this city is the capital of the Tuscany region in Italy. I have been to many places and cities in Italy and all I can say, this city is truly a must-to-see place for all tourists who lovely architecture, culture and history.
The Fontana del Nettuno or the Fountain of Neptune in the Piazza della Signoria, in front of the Palazzo Vecchio. The fountain was commissioned in 1565 and is the work of the sculptor Bartolomeo Ammannati.
Florence was the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance. Politically, economically, and culturally it was the most important city in Europe for around 250 years; from some time before 1300 until the early 1500s.
The Santa Maria del Fiore , also known as the Duomo di Firenze is the city’s beautiful cathedral, the symbol of the city. Brunelleschi’s huge dome was an engineering feat of the renaissance.
Florence was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1982.
I have a lot of stories to tell from this lovely city. For now, let me share these snapshots I took during our visit last September 28, 2013. For me, Florence is one of the most beautiful cities I visited not only in Italy but in whole of Europe and the world.
I wanted to visit it again in the future. ..Who knows? When there is a will, there is a way! so as the saying goes.
Hi dear friends and visitors!! thanks for visiting me here!! Have a great and blessed day!!
