Haven’t heard about this place called Lisdoonvarna? Me either,  until I visited Ireland lately and we stayed in one of the hotels in this town. One night in our hotel, we had the chance to see and to hear live music. The three musicians played good music and I love their guitar tune. They  mostly played Irish country folk music which  I really find very interesting and relaxing.

For all you know, our tour guide Kristine,  told us that Lisdoonvarna is famous for its festival called the “Matchmaking festival”. It is considered to be Europe’s  largest matchmaking event held every year during  the month of September.  It attracts more than  40,000 romantic hopefuls, bachelor farmers and accompanying revellers. The month-long event is an important tourist attraction. The current matchmaker is Willie Daly, a fourth-generation matchmaker.

The Matchmaker Bar in Lisdoonvarna.  I had a short walk in this town early in the morning when the wind really blew so strong. The weather  was not so cold compared  to where I am now.  I guess I am coming back to this place to find my perfect match! haha! just kidding folks! This bar is only some meters away from  Hydro  hotel, where we stayed for  two nights.

Lisdoonvarna, called in  Irish as  Lios Dúin Bhearna, meaning “Enclosure at the Fort by the Gap”) is a spa town of 822 people (2002 census) in County Clare in Ireland.  It is  also famous for its music.

If you are looking for a better half of your life, why not visiting Lisdoonvarna in September.  I might see you there! lolz! Don’t also miss going to the pubs when visiting Ireland!
